Relocating To The Greater Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Area

Congratulations. Welcome to one of the fastest growing and dynamic areas in the entire country, home to three major universities (Duke, North Carolina and North Carolina State), Research Triangle Park (a high technology development zone), the North Carolina state capital (Raleigh) and much much more. This is an exciting area in which to work, raise a family or even retire. And with the Carolina coast to the east and the Appalachian and Smoky Mountains to the west, it is also a great starting point for weekend trips and vacations.

The Relocation Blues

Like many of you, I have personally experienced corporate relocation several times. I understand the emotions involved with spouses, children and even pets. The enthusiasm at the prospect of moving to a new area is often overshadowed by the frustration with all of the details of moving a household of people across the country, across the state or even across town. I know those feelings all too well.

My job is to help you make that transition as smoothly as possible. I take great pride in my work and strive to make each and every real estate transaction a pleasant experience. I know I am good at what I do - my clients tell me so! (see client feedback)

Zeroing In On A Specific Area

I believe that direct communications between realtor and client is by far the most complete and fastest method to zero in on your home search. Between us, we can develop a plan that will allow you to target specific communities and homes that are in line with your requirements and at a pace that meets your schedule.

Hey...Where I Come From, They Never Use This Type Of Construction

Finding a home to meet your needs is not an exact science, especially if community standards, home styles and home prices vary widely from your current location. Often times, a home search is delayed when a client spends too much time comparing the new home to standards from another part of the country. Take some time to review what you can expect to see in your price range at specific communities. Your best guide to a good real estate value is comparison to home prices in the immediate area.

New To The Area

If you are new to this area, there is no substitiute to seeing it for yourself. Schedule a trip and if at all possible, bring your spouse. Be prepared to spend 2-3 days looking at houses, schools and other p

oints of interest. The more research you do before scheduling the trip, the more productive your time will be. Of course, this is a large geographical area and you will need to have a good idea of where you want to target your search.

Corporate Relocation

My company, Howard Perry and Walston Realtors manages approximately 65% of all corporate relocation either into or from this area through Cendant Mobility Network. We are honored to be the designated broker in this area for Cendant. I am personally honored to be a member of the Cendant Mobility Listing Team for my company. If your company uses Cendant Mobility for relocation services, I can be your agent. Just mention my name to your Cendant representative.

Summary

You have targeted a great area for relocation. To make the transition as smooth and painless as possible...

  1. Request a free Relocation Information Package from me.
  2. Find out as much about the area as you can. Visit my Area Info Page or use your favorite internet search engine to find additional information.
  3. Visit the area as soon as possible and bring your spouse. Spend time in communities that you are interested in.
  4. Spend time on your own checking out shopping, schools, driving distances, and adjacent communities.
  5. Don't compare homes in this area to other parts of the country (unless of course you are not sure you want to move here). Compare them to other homes in the same community.
  6. Work with a highly qualified and successful real estate agent (me!). I can save you time, help you target suitable communities and of course preview and relay home information directly to you. Having personally experienced corporate relocations and successfully assisting families doing the same, I am qualified and motivated to make your relocation a positive experience!
